Transitioning from Flash:
(FAQs
)

When is Flash no longer supported?

Adobe announced that its Flash Player will no longer be supported after December 31, 2020, and following suit, all major web browsers have announced they will stop rendering Flash-based content on or before December 31. In macOS Big Sur, Safari now blocks all Flash content.

What does the end of Flash mean for the C3 Cloud?

The C3 Cloud platform and recently added game builders were built with modern technologies and do not rely on Flash code to run. However, the original game building software relied on Flash code and will no longer work after December 31st, 2020.

What games and systems will continue to work normally?

The C3 Cloud platform itself will continue to work, and also the HTML5 games:

  • Quiz Show HTML5

  • Spin Off HTML5

  • Catapult HTML5 (Available by Dec 31, 2020)

  • Spark!

  • Whirl

  • Tally

As well as games to be released in 2021, including:

  • Billionaire HTML5

  • Volley HTML5

  • Rally HTML5

  • Moonshot HTML5

What games and systems ARE affected?

The original BRAVO! And Pronto! Games that use Flash include:

  • Quiz Show

  • Spin Off

  • Billionaire

  • Showdown

  • Catapult

  • Volley

  • Moonshot

  • Rally

What about games that I uploaded to my LMS?

Any Flash game, whether on the Cloud platform, downloaded to a computer, uploaded to an LMS, or embedded on a website will need to be converted to an HTML5 version before Dec 31, 2020.

Can I “convert” my Flash games to a newer format?

Yes, you may preserve individual Questions from affected games by adding the questions to your Question Library. You may also preserve entire Quiz Show and Spin Off games by converting them directly to an HTML5 game. When Catapult HTML5 is finished, we will add an option to convert any “single category” Flash game into the “Catapult HTML5” format.

Are there deadlines to act by?

Saving Questions into the Library - December 31, 2020
If you still intend to save questions from the Flash games to your question library, please do so before the end of the year. Now is also a great time to organize your libraries, and to ensure all questions and folders are showing up properly when viewing them via the new format game builders.

Converting Flash Games to HTML5- No Deadline
The questions and images in your games are safe, and these games will continue to be displayed in the “My Content” list. Games may be converted now, or next year. You will not be able to open the Flash-based game editor after the first of the year, but you will be able to edit the game after converting it to an HTML5 version.
